A.P. Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems

The A.P. Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems (IIS), Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is based in one of the best scientific environments in Russia, namely in Akademgorodok. It is located 25 km south of Novosibirsk, the so-called "capital" of Siberia, a vast rising territory with many natural resources and a growing industry.

Research currently performed at the IIS covers the following areas:

• theoretical background of computer science;
• methods and tools of constructing reliable and efficient programs;
• artificial intelligence systems;
• software and application packages for new computers, systems and networks.

The Institute consists of nine laboratories and a number of supporting divisions, including the information service with the A.P. Ershov Memorial Library.
